"See a thing clearly and state it plainly."

John Ruskin

Principles of Zen and Taoism are inherent in Tony Smibert's minimal landscapes. Simple compositions and purposeful brushstrokes facilitate distilled impressions of landscape in watercolour or acrylic, large or small, onto acrylic or canvas.

Highly influenced by Chinese and Japanese art, Smibert remains one of very few non-western artists ever invited to design contemporary yuzen kimono, based on his art and created in Kyoto for the high fashion Japan market.
