Tony Smibert's art includes watercolours inspired by ‘The Golden Age of English Watercolour' (c. 1750 - 1850) and others reflecting the minimalism of Japanese Zen. In Europe, he exhibits contemporary abstracts known for their strength and simplicity. His work also includes: works on canvas, high-fashion Japanese kimonos, limited edition prints, documentary production and various projects with leading art institutions.
After more than 40 solo exhibitions he is represented in private, public and corporate collections and now specialises in building collections of specific focus works for collectors. He is highly recognised for his research into the painting techniques of JMW Turner and currently assists Tate Britain as an visiting artist researcher. He is the author of numerous publications and contributes to magazines including International Artist and Craft Arts International.. |
